Once you've committed to taking on the formidable challenge of La Leyenda, you want to make sure both you and your partner are fit enough to finish the race, and also to enjoy the experience. A comprehensive training regime is therefore essential to help you prepare for the seven stages of never ending Andean ascents, so we asked Christian Parrett and renowned Colombian coach Héctor Pérez to construct bespoke plans to help guide you.
Christian Parrett is the head coach of Kinetic Potential Coaching and a former professional cyclist. He works with a variety of athletes from hobbyist level to National Team members, in a variety of disciplines, including marathon mountain bike racing. He's also a former resident of Manizales and was part of La Leyenda staff in 2017, meaning he has a deep understanding of the physical demands racers will need to be prepared for. He's available for questions about the training plan at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Hector's the current trainer of Jonathan Botero who finished 5th in the MTB XC in the Río Olympics, and has also been coach for MTB team GW-Shimano for the last eight seasons, so he's well experienced in the demands that mountain bike stage races place on the body and how best to overcome them.
