A comprehensive training regime is therefore essential to help you prepare for the seven stages of never ending Andean ascents, so we asked Christian Parrett and renowned Colombian coach Héctor Pérez to construct bespoke plans to help guide you.
Christian Parrett is the head coach of Kinetic Potential Coaching and a former professional cyclist. He works with a variety of athletes from hobbyist level to National Team members, in a variety of disciplines, including marathon mountain bike racing. He's also a former resident of Manizales, was part of La Leyenda staff in 2017 and raced La Leyenda 2018, meaning he knows exactly the physical demands racers need to be prepared for. Hector's the current trainer of Jonathan Botero who finished 5th in the MTB XC in the Río Olympics, and has also been coach for MTB team GW-Shimano for the last eight seasons, so he's well experienced in the demands that mountain bike stage races place on the body and how best to overcome them.
