La Leyenda is for amateurs and pros, off course you need to be in good shape and trained regularly before the race and it will hurt at times but thats the whole point. In the words of Mick Jagger “I can’t get no satisfaction if it’s too easy” or something like that. See our Training page and Tips & Tricks page in the RACERS section for useful advice. Remember you will get a comfortable bed every night and mechanics and masseuses are available to support you as well. Then just go for it.

Due to the extreme nature of this event and the conditions riders will experience, in order to ensure the safety of racers you must ride in teams of two and never be separated by more than 2 minutes.
There will be water, energy drinks, fresh fruit, boiled new potatoes, cakes and sweet snacks. If you would like to have anything else at the feed stations you will need to take it with you.
The number of refreshment points will vary depending on the length and difficulty of the stage. There will be between 1 to 3 refreshment points on all stages, with extra water points if required due to climatic conditions.
There are cut off times for each aid station and the finish. Cut off times are shown in the ROUTE section of the website.
Yes you can complete the remaining stages. However you will not be eligible for prize money or prizes. For that particular stage you will receive a DNF, however you will still receive a cumulative time for the 7 day event. You will not be considered an official race finisher and results will be displayed separately.
You will not be an official race finisher, and therefore will not receive the official Leyenda finishers t-shirt, medal or espresso cup.
Yes you will be allowed to continue and complete the remaining stages. However you will not be eligible for prize money or prizes.
Our timing partner Chronotrack will provide the following services so results will be available in real time directly from the race.
Anywhere in the world, anyone will know when a racer crosses a checkpoint or the finish line via the following:
- Dedicated results page available on their website.
- SMS for racers and followers (phone numbers from any country)
- Updates on Facebook and Twitter for fans and racers.
A few days before the event we will publish a link through which you can register for the above services. In addition to live results Chronotrack will also make available video and photographs of each contestant as they cross the finish line. This can be shared on social media as well.
You will be given an ID bracelet which will be used to check in/out your racer bag and bike in the morning and after each stage.
For each stage, the top 3 in each category will be announced each day. The overall team leading each category will be presented with leaders jerseys. In the final award presentations on the last day there will also be awards for the winning teams in each of the categories.
We ask participants of La Leyenda to respect the prohibition of doping and the provisions concerning anti-doping controls, as they result from laws and regulations in force. Anti-doping controls can be carried out at any time without prior notice by licensed authorities. For more information please see the Race Rules.
